It was back sometime in June I believe. Sandra, Clark, MiChele and I were at a James Taylor concert. We must've been two burbons and a bag of sweet almonds when Clark mentioned he was going to do Sturgis 2025 this year. Clark said "You should come along". Of course, I was jealous since it's been one of those things I've imagined doing but never threw the throttle down on. I put it on a back burner and periodically whack-a-moled the idea. Then later in June, I called Clark and said "I want to go, but first let me see if I could procure a Harley".
There it was, the motion was put into place and I would eventually purchase the 2001 Harley Davidson Sportser from my sister. She inherited from our fathers estate, and wasn't really sure what she was going to do with it. The bike had not been ridden in nearly 20 years, but had 1500 miles on it. On my fingers, I could count the few times my dad had it out on the road, so I suspected it was going to need a little bit of servicing. Now, I had bike, a date and and RV. This would also require a trailer to get it to South Dakota. Unfortuneately, the floorboard of our utility trailer was more reminesent of the Flintstones barney rubble car. You could litterally put your feet through the floor if not careful. So began the resurrection of the trailer.
My uncle Mike had some extra plywood and was more that willing to get this trailer back into function. So we spent a good day installing a new floor and expoxy painting the new floor. Looking it over; other than a new coat of paint, the tires were the next suspect in the criminal lineup which was easy to pickout. Thus, I'm off to the trailer repair to have new 10plys and the bearings packed. After this was all done, the trailer, RV and Bike were all the pieces in place for the worlds biggest motorcycle rally.
Everything was in place, but am I ready?
